How to tan before Pilates
Reformer, mat or hot Pilates? Here's how to time your tan around class, with eight hours to develop and a first rinse before you move.

A slower class still needs a little planning
Pilates belongs in your tanning schedule just as much as a gym session. Even when a class feels controlled and low impact, you can still get warm, perspire and spend time in fitted clothing against a mat or reformer.
The easiest arrangement? Class first, tan afterwards. Shower, let your skin cool and dry, then apply when you have eight hours free from sweating and water.
For an early morning class
Work backwards from the time you need to leave home. An application at 10 pm followed by a 6 am class leaves no room for your first rinse, drying and getting ready.
Choose an earlier application time or tan an extra day ahead. Your full development window and rinse come before your leggings and grip socks.
For hot Pilates
Treat a heated class as a sweaty workout. Keep it outside the development window, even if you expect to take the session gently. A warm studio is not a reliable place to keep freshly applied tan dry.
Think about what touches your skin
During development, choose loose clothes instead of a compressive set. For class, follow the studio's clothing and towel guidance, and avoid arriving with unwashed guide colour on your skin. Completing the first rinse is sensible preparation; it is not a promise that transfer can never happen.
After class, freshen up, change and continue your usual skincare routine. The aim is a tan schedule that feels as familiar as booking your favourite instructor.
