How to tan before HYROX: your race-week routine
Plan your tan before HYROX with a simple race-week timetable, an eight-hour development window and practical tips for race morning.

Get your tan sorted before race morning
Race morning already has enough moving parts. Your tan can be one thing you've taken care of earlier.
Our suggested plan is to tan two evenings before your event. This gives you time for development, a first rinse and a chance to check the result without squeezing application around travel or an early start. It's a planning suggestion, not a requirement to leave product on for two days.
An example for a Saturday race
Wednesday evening
Gently exfoliate. If shaving is part of your routine, do it now, giving skin around 24 hours before application.
Thursday evening
Apply to clean, cool, dry skin after any planned training and showering.
Overnight
Leave on for eight hours. Keep cool, avoid sweating and wear loose clothing.
Friday morning
Complete your first rinse according to the bottle directions. Pat dry and check your colour in daylight.
Saturday
Get dressed in the kit you've already tested and focus on your race.
Rehearse the routine
Try your chosen shade and timing during a normal training week first. Race week is a poor moment to discover how an unfamiliar product looks on your skin or behaves with your kit.
Don't add a last-minute coat before leaving for the venue. It restarts the development process when you're about to get warm and active.
Keep your race essentials
Use the kit, anti-chafe products and sun protection your event requires. Don't sacrifice comfort to preserve a cosmetic finish. Take a clean change of clothes for afterwards and shower when practical.
You've done the training. Let your beauty routine fit around it.
